Washington Area FCU Washington Area FCU Washington, PA Washington, PA Full-time Full-time $18 - $20 an hour $18 - $20 an hour 20 hours ago 20 hours ago 20 hours ago The primary focus of the Operations Specialist is to assist in handling the deposit operations of the credit union, including but not limited to, ACH, share draft processing, bill payments, direct deposit/payrolls, debit cards, and IRA's etc.
The specialist is responsible for posting credit union and member transactions, balancing appropriate reports and accounts, researching and resolving problems, and providing reviews on various activity reports.
Lends strong support to overall member communications via the phones.
Will be trained in other Operation department functions and will act as back-up to other Specialists.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities include:
Posts journal entries, processes payments, verifies and updates member information, researches member disputes, reviews and balances accounts, files and assists in preparation of reports.
Assists in answering member and employee questions and concerns.
Aids in the overall performance of the Operations Department and acts as a backup to other Specialists.
Assists other departments and credit union as needed.
Verifies accounts are balanced and all necessary totals and reports are maintained for use by others.
Researches problems or questions from members, core systems, or clearinghouses.
Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared for credit union and member documentation.
Suggests and assists in implementing procedural changes to increase efficiency and/or quality of service.
Participates in and is supportive of the overall strategic goals of the Credit Union.
The Operations Specialist is a point of contact for members and other employees so the Specialist must perform all assigned responsibilities with care, providing informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
The Specialist will be trained to troubleshoot and resolve inquiries in a timely and accurate manner, meet deadlines with respect to settlement activities, and minimize errors and losses to the Credit Union by operating in accordance with established departmental policies and guidelines.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience:
Six months to one year of similar or related experience.
Education:
A high school education or GED.
Other Skills ills:
Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which generally requires some discussion.
Must be able to maintain professionalism, courtesy, and tact in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills:
Must be able to operate general office equipment including, computer, keyboard, telephone, copy machine, email and various software systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to lift up to 50-pounds.
Generally an office environment.
May be required to travel for a special event or training session.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
