OverviewFTI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Writer to support Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in the execution of their mission to design, build, deliver, and maintain ships, submarines, and systems reliably, on-time and on-cost for the United States Navy.
As a Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of strategic documentation and briefing material for a government customer.
Your responsibilities will involve conducting comprehensive analysis of technical concepts and documentation from key stakeholders and generating consolidated documentation and briefing material to effectively communicate strategic concepts.

Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement customized technical documents in line with project requirements.
Gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements from various sources.
Perform writing tasks for a range of technical documents, including user manuals, installation manuals, help documents, and tutorials.
Demonstrate effective planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Collaborate with multiple Navy stakeholders, including NAVSEA (multiple codes), OPNAV, and the Surface Type Commander, to coordinate requirements and schedules for information gathering and future consolidation.
Draft various documentation, including strategic or technical concept documents, requirements documents, meeting memorandums, and briefs, to gain stakeholder consensus.
Provide technical writing expertise to support the development of strategic documentation, requirements, and briefing material ready for Flag Officer review.
Maintain professional records and files of work and revisions in accordance with the document development life cycle.
Distribute approved documentation and briefs to stakeholders in a timely manner.
Education/Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
6
years of experience in technical writing.
Prior experience supporting NAVSEA or OPNAV is preferred.
Knowledge of the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) process and experience providing technical support in the development of POM papers is a plus.
Ability to effectively coordinate requirements and schedules with multiple Navy stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills for comprehensive analysis of technical concepts and documentation.
Proficiency in developing strategic or technical concept documents, requirements documents, meeting memorandums, and briefs.
Expertise in MS Office suite, particularly advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Detail-oriented and organized, ensuring accurate documentation and revision control.

S.
Citizen and possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
Must be physically located near, and willing to report to, the customer site in Washington D.
C.
2-3 days per week.
